In short: Whiz has no accounts, analytics or tracking. Your recordings, transcripts and voice profiles stay on your Mac. When you buy Whiz, Paddle processes the payment and passes us your name, email address and country so we can send your license key and help you.
1. The Whiz app
- Recordings and transcripts are processed on your Mac and saved next to the recording you chose. We never receive them.
- Recording a call. When you press Record, Whiz records your microphone, the sound your Mac plays and, if you choose, the screen, using the microphone and screen-recording permissions macOS asks you for. The recording is saved on your Mac (in Movies → Whiz unless you choose another folder) and is never sent anywhere. Telling the other people on a call that you are recording it is up to you, as the law where you and they are may require.
- Voice profiles. When you name a speaker, Whiz stores a numeric voice signature on your Mac so it can recognize that voice in later recordings. It never leaves your Mac. You can delete any profile in Settings → Voices.
- No analytics or crash reporting. The app does not report usage, errors or identifiers to us or anyone else.
- License check. Your license key is checked on your Mac, without contacting a server. The key and the trial count are stored in the app's settings on your Mac.
The app connects to the internet only to:
- download speech and speaker-detection models, from Hugging Face and GitHub, when you ask it to. Those services see your IP address, as with any download;
- send a transcript for an AI summary, only if you turn summaries on, and only to the server you configure. The default is a local server on your own Mac; if you choose a remote server or a cloud model, its provider receives the transcript under its own privacy policy;
- check for updates, if you allow it: Whiz asks once, and you can change your answer in Settings → Updates. A check reads a small file from this website, which sees your IP address, the Whiz version and your preferred language. An update you choose to install downloads from GitHub;
- open this website in your browser when you click "Buy Whiz".
2. Buying Whiz
Paddle.com is our reseller and Merchant of Record. Paddle collects your payment details, billing country and email address to process the order and meet its tax obligations, under Paddle's privacy policy. We never see your card details.
Paddle shares with us your name, email address, country and order details. We use them only to send and re-send your license key, to answer support requests, to handle refunds, and to keep the records tax law requires. We do not send marketing email unless you ask for it, and we do not sell or share your data.
We keep order records for as long as the law requires for tax and accounting, and your license details for as long as you might need your key again.
3. This website
This website has no cookies, analytics or tracking. It is hosted on GitHub Pages, and loads its fonts from Google Fonts; both receive your IP address and browser details when you visit, as described in the GitHub and Google privacy policies.
4. Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you (your order details), or ask us to correct or delete it, unless the law requires us to keep it. If you live in the EU or UK, you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority. Contact hello@duduphudu.app.
5. Who is responsible
Vadim Lysenko (sole proprietor), Dmytra Vyshnevetskogo St., Ternopil, Ukraine, is responsible for this policy. We will post any change here, with a new date at the top.
