Terms of Sale and License
Last updated 21 October 2026
In short: you pay once and keep the version you bought, with every update of the same major version (for example every 1.x release). There is no subscription. Whiz runs on your Mac; what you record and transcribe is yours, and so is the responsibility for having permission to record it.
1. Who you are buying from
Whiz is made by Vadim Lysenko (sole proprietor), Dmytra Vyshnevetskogo St., Ternopil, Ukraine ("we", "us").
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Paddle's buyer terms apply to the purchase itself; these terms cover the app and its license.
2. What you get
- A license for one person to use Whiz on any Macs that person uses. Buying for a team means one license per person who uses it.
- The major version you buy, for good, including every update of that major version, and the 0.x releases before 1.0. A later major version (2.0) may be offered as a paid upgrade; it never takes away the version you have.
- A license key, sent by email after your purchase. It works offline and has no expiry. Keep it somewhere safe; we can send it again on request.
You may not resell, rent or publish your license key, or use it to let people outside your license use Whiz.
3. The free trial
Whiz includes a free trial of five transcriptions so you can try it on your own recordings before buying. After the trial, transcripts you already made stay readable and their files stay yours; starting new transcriptions needs a license.
4. Open source
Whiz's source code, including the command-line tool whiz, is published at github.com/ReidenXerx/whiz under the MIT License. Nothing in these terms limits what that license allows. What you buy is the ready-to-use, signed app as we distribute it, its license key, and support. Whiz also includes third-party components and downloads speech models, each under its own license; their notices ship inside the app.
5. Your recordings and your responsibilities
- Transcription, speaker detection and summaries run on your Mac. If you turn on AI summaries with a server or cloud model you choose, the transcript is sent there, under that provider's terms.
- Many places require consent from everyone being recorded. You are responsible for having the right to record and process the recordings you use with Whiz.
- Speech recognition and AI summaries make mistakes. Check anything important against the recording before you rely on it.
6. Refunds
If Whiz is not right for you, you can get a full refund within 30 days of purchase. See the refund policy.
7. Warranty and liability
Whiz is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties beyond those you cannot be denied as a consumer, and our total liability for any claim about Whiz is limited to the amount you paid for it. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer protection law where you live.
8. Changes and contact
We may update these terms; the version that applied when you bought Whiz continues to apply to that purchase. These terms are governed by the laws of Ukraine, without taking away the protection of the consumer laws of the country where you live. Questions: hello@duduphudu.app.
